New Models Earlier Models                      Small to Medium Enterprises                               Models: eSeriver i5 520, 550 Reduce complexity and  improve productivity with the world's first POWER5 processor-based server. Runs i5/OS, AIX 5L, Windows (via an IXA or IXS) and Linux simultaneously — offers tremendous flexibility in operating system choice. Model 520 Model 520 is a compact 1-way or 2-way server which is suitable for most office environments. It is available either in desk-side or rack-mounted packaging. The rack-mounted model 520 uses only 4 EIA in a standard 19-inch rack. More space is required for optional additional I/O towers or rack drawers of I/O external to the system unit or CEC. Up to 6 optional I/O towers or I/O drawers can be attached via a High Speed Link (HSL) loop providing space for up to 278 disk drives and up to 90 PCI-X slots. Model 550 A model 550 is a compact 1/4-way server which is installed in either a standard 19-inch rack where it uses only four EIA or installed as a compact deskside unit. Two processor cards are enclosed in the 1/4-way server offering. The model 550 can have up to 64GB of memory, two HSL loops, and up to 12 optional I/O towers or I/O drawers. This allows a maximum of 548 disk drives and up to 173 PCI-X slots.                       Medium to Large Enterprises                                      Model: eServer i5 570  Multiplatform management and maximum flexibility for medium to large enterprises. Runs i5/OS, AIX 5L, Windows (via an IXA or IXS) and Linux simultaneously — offers maximum flexibility in operating system  choice. A single enclosure model 570 is a compact 1/2-way or 2/4-way server which is installed in a standard 19-inch rack where it uses only 4 EIA positions. A single processor card is plugged into the processor enclosure to provide a 1/2-way server offering. Two processor cards are plugged into the processor enclosure to provide a 2/4-way server offering. Up to three additional enclosures can be combined using a flexible processor fabric to create a 16-way server. Memory and I/O capabilities grow as processor cards and enclosures are added. The 1/2-way server can have up to 64GB of memory, one High Speed Link (HSL) loop, and up to 6 optional I/O towers or I/O drawers. The 2/4-way server can have up to 128GB of memory, two HSL loops, and up to 12 optional I/O towers or I/O drawers. This provides  the 1/2-way with a maximum of 276 disk drives and up to 90 PCI-X slots. The 2/4-way can have a maximum of 546 disk drives and 173 PCI-X slots.
